Welcome to The River Bungalow at Shenandoah Haven, a thoughtfully restored two-bedroom home set among open meadows in Bentonville. Start the morning with coffee on the covered porch, walk about a quarter mile to the property’s Shenandoah River frontage, and end the day around the fire pit under the stars. Inside, reclaimed heart pine floors, hand-hewn beams, a beautifully finished kitchen, two bedrooms, and two full baths create a comfortable home base for exploring the Shenandoah Valley.

The River Bungalow blends the character of a classic Shenandoah Valley home with a thoughtful interior that feels comfortable, warm, and connected to its setting. Reclaimed heart pine floors, exposed hand-hewn beams, and carefully chosen finishes give the house a sense of history, while the updated kitchen, two full bathrooms, and comfortable gathering spaces make it easy to settle in.

🍽️ Gather
The main living room is bright and comfortable, with reclaimed heart pine floors, a leather sectional, smart TV, and windows on two sides bringing in plenty of natural light. A small table nearby works equally well for cards, board games, or opening a laptop.

Downstairs, the kitchen and dining area become another natural gathering place. The kitchen has full-size appliances, quartz countertops, a farmhouse sink, open shelving, and plenty of room to prepare everything from a quick breakfast to dinner at home. A Keurig K-Duo, electric kettle, and toaster make mornings easy, while the nearby dining table easily seats the group.

🛏️ Rest
Two bedrooms sleep four, with a king bed in the primary bedroom and a full bed in the second. Both rooms have their own mini-split for individual temperature control, along with nightstands, lamps, luggage racks, and comfortable bedding.

The bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, while a second full bathroom downstairs offers an especially spacious setup with a tiled walk-in shower, two shower heads, a separate soaking tub, and double vanity. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided, and a full-size washer and dryer are located on this level as well.

The second bedroom includes a proper desk and task chair, and another workspace in the living area gives guests additional flexibility if someone needs to work during the stay.

🌅 Unwind
The deep covered porch runs along the front of the home and is one of our favorite places to spend time here. Settle into the wicker seating with morning coffee, watch the light move across the meadow, or enjoy a quiet afternoon outside.
Beyond the porch, the open lawn leads to a gravel fire pit with Adirondack chairs and a bench, with subtle lighting that keeps the space inviting after dark. A Blackstone griddle is also available for outdoor cooking.

🍷 Explore
The property includes access to Shenandoah River frontage about a quarter-mile walk from the bungalow, reached by crossing the road. The riverbank is natural and undeveloped, giving you a peaceful place to enjoy the water and surrounding landscape.
Bentonville sits between Front Royal and Luray, putting Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park, river outfitters, hiking trails, wineries, and restaurants within easy reach.

The River Bungalow is also the first guest stay at Shenandoah Haven, a larger vision for the property centered around the Shenandoah River, local agriculture, and a future farm animal sanctuary. For now, guests can enjoy the home and surrounding property while that vision gradually takes shape.

Guests have private access to the full home, including both levels, the covered porch, yard, and fire pit. The river area is natural and undeveloped, so please use care when accessing the water.

A vehicle is the easiest way to explore the area and reach trailheads, wineries, restaurants, and nearby towns. Portions of the local roads and the driveway are gravel, and there is parking for up to three vehicles. Standard 2WD is typically fine in normal conditions, while AWD or 4WD is recommended during snow or ice. Rideshare service may be available, but wait times and availability can vary considerably compared with urban areas.

🌊 The River • The property includes Shenandoah River frontage about a quarter-mile walk from the bungalow, reached by crossing the road. The riverbank is natural and undeveloped, with no dock or maintained steps. Water depth, current, and shoreline conditions change with weather and rainfall, so please use appropriate caution around the water.

🐕 Pet Policy • Up to two dogs are welcome per stay, and a per-pet fee applies. Please add them to your reservation so the fee applies automatically. The yard is not fenced, so dogs will need to be leashed or supervised outside, particularly given the road and the walk to the river. ESAs are treated as pets under the same policy, while service animals are always welcome, so please let us know in advance.

🚗 Getting Here & Winter Weather • Portions of the local roads and the driveway are gravel, and there is parking for up to three vehicles. Standard 2WD is typically fine in normal conditions; during snow or ice, AWD or 4WD is recommended and occasionally required, and we’ll share access guidance ahead of any winter storm.

🚼 Family-Friendly • Traveling with little ones? A pack ’n play, high chair, and children’s tableware are provided. The yard is unfenced and the porch is raised, so children should be supervised outside.

🧯 Safety & Cleanliness • All bedding and linens are freshly laundered between stays. The house is equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers.

🦌 Critters, Big & Small • Set in a rural area near the river, our home offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy local wildlife. Bugs inside the home are uncommon, though an occasional one may make its way indoors. Outside, you may see deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, foxes, turtles, or, on rare occasions, a black bear. Please keep food stored securely, avoid leaving trash outside, and enjoy wildlife from a safe distance. If you ever notice anything unusual inside the home, let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

🏡 Privacy • The bungalow sits on an open rural lot with neighboring homes set well back from the property. While the setting feels spacious and peaceful, this is still a residential community, so we ask guests to be considerate of our neighbors, particularly when enjoying the porch and fire pit in the evening.

🧹 Property Care • We make occasional updates to keep the house comfortable, so a few furnishings may differ from the photos. During your stay, our landscaping team may service the property. These visits are brief, exterior only, and never require access inside.
